Port plans to scare up a weekend of Halloween events

Demons, princesses and other costumed characters will fill the streets of Port Washington Saturday as the city celebrates Halloween.

Port Main Street Inc. will host its annual Harvest at the Market celebration, which includes an extended farmers market and downtown trick or treating.

The market, located on Main Street between Franklin and Wisconsin streets, will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Included in this week’s market will be a food drive to benefit the Food Pantry. Those bringing items to donate will be entered into a drawing for two $25 gift certificates.

An event table to gauge interest in holding a community harvest meal next year will also be at the market. 

Youngsters are invited to participate in the “treat trail” as they trick-or-treat at downtown businesses from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Participating businesses will have a pumpkin decal in their windows.

Other children’s activities may also be part of the event.

Children can don their costumes again for the city-wide trick-or-treating Saturday,  which runs from 4 to 7 p.m.
