Opening reception set for Gallery 224 exhibit

The opening reception for Gallery 224’s newest exhibit, “Responding, A Conversation in Color,” will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11.

The exhibition, which features artists Martha Coaty, Erica Jane Huntzinger and Angela Pierro, runs through March 2.

In conjunction with the show, 10 poets have been invited to write a poem inspired by the show.

Those poems will be shared at a poetry reading from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3.

Poetry workshops will also be held throughout January and February. Each will run from 10 a.m. to noon.

Poets Oody Petty and Beth Bretl will lead a workshop on Saturday, Jan. 19, while Tad Phippen Wente will host the Saturday, Jan. 26, workshop.

On Saturday, Feb. 2, Annie Grizzle, will host the workshop, while the Saturday, Feb. 9, session will be led by Bethany Price.

Sam Pekarske will host the Saturday, Feb. 16, workshop and Jenny Gropp and Laura Solomon will lead the Saturday, Feb. 23, session.

The closing reception and an artist talk for the “Responding, A Conversation in Color” exhibit will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 2.

Other activities at Gallery 224 include:

Drop in and Draw, a new program at the gallery 224, will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays.

Those attending may bring a sketch pad and drawing materials of their choice.

They may bring projects they have been working on or stop in for inspiration and ideas from artist Cynthia Lorenz.

Photo Book Conversations are held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. the first Monday of every month.

These are informal gatherings that allow people to show up with a favorite photo book or two to share.
