Oct. 14 luminaria walk will honor abuse victims

A public luminaria walk to honor those impacted by domestic abuse will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, by Advocates of Ozaukee.

The walk will be held rain or shine at Cedar Creek Park on Portland Road in Cedarburg.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Participants will be given the opportunity to write affirmations onto blank luminaria bags and add them to the path, supporting those who are still healing.

A display of artwork made by local survivors will be placed along the pathway.

Advocates representatives will be stationed throughout the park to hand out resources, giveaways and answer questions.

Advocates of Ozaukee will also accept donations of gas, grocery and clothing store gift cards.

Advocates of Ozaukee provides free and confidential services for those who are experiencing domestic and sexual violence. For more information, visit www.advocatesofozaukee.com.
