Nancy Risch

Nancy L. Risch of Belgium died Tuesday, Oct. 9. She was 81.
She was born April 26, 1937, in Merrill, to Theodore and Julia Saukum Risch.
She graduated from Sterling Morton High School in Cicero, Ill., in 1955.
She married James Risch on Sept. 26, 1992, at St. Mary’s church in Lake Church.
One of her favorite past-times was playing bingo with her friends and family at Potawotami Hotel and Casino in Milwaukee, local churches and the Lions Club.
She enjoyed sewing, puzzles, scrap-booking and traveling. She was a long-time member of Divine Savior Parish – Holy Cross Chapel, where she also was a frequent volunteer.
“Her faith was very important to her.,” her stepson David Risch said.
Mrs. Risch was a 4-H leader for many years as well, he said.
“She was a very loving and caring mother and step-mother and loved spending time with her family,” he said.
Ginger, her golden retriever, was her “constant shadow,” he said.
Mrs. Risch is survived by her husband, children Robert (Diane) Nelson, Debra (Jay) Ralston, Lindalee (Kurt) Keller, Sheryl (Rick) Weinrich, Doreen Bransted and Timothy (Donna) Nelson; stepchildren Debra (Tim) Gierach, Nancy (Randy) Koopman, Kathleen (Bill) Leissring, Michael (Michelle DeSwarte), David (Susan), Julie (Terland Caldwell) Risch and Thomas (Sarah); 29 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and siblings Ted (Eileen) Wenglinski and John Wenglinski.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Ryan Ray Tesch and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Diane and Henry Thill.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Divine Savior Parish – Holy Cross Chapel. The Rev. Todd Budde presided.
Eernisse Funeral Home assisted the family.
