Memorial Day program to mark WWII anniversary
The Fredonia Memorial Day program will be held at Veterans Park on Monday, May 26.
A pancake breakfast fundraiser for St. John’s youth ministry will be held from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
The program starts at 9 a.m. and will commemorate the 80th anniversary of World War II. Members of the Warren Kane American Legion Post 410 will place a permanent commemorative plaque on the memorial with dates of the landings at Omaha and Utah beaches, as well as Iwo Jima. Vials of sand from each will be buried under the plaques.
The Ozaukee High School band, St. John’s Pastor Marshal Frisque, the Legion Post’s color guard and rifle squad, 4-H members and Scouts will participate.
Seating will be available. Parking will be available on Edmaro Street.
