Mary Robel

Mary L. Robel, 71, of Saukville, died of complications of surgery at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton on Friday, Dec. 28.

“She was a very strong person who endured so much throughout her life,” her husband David said.

Mrs. Robel was born in Stanley on Feb. 21, 1947, to Arvid and Lilly Horwath Heikkinen.  

On Nov. 5, 1966, she married David Robel at Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon.

Mrs. Robel worked as a secretary and was an assistant secretary for the Special Olympics. She also was a library assistant for the Grafton Public Library.  

Mrs. Robel is survived by her husband David of Saukville; children Nick of Belgium and Danielle Robel of Milwaukee; and grandchildren Lily and Courtney.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers John Horvath and Gary Heikkinen.  

A memorial service was held Friday, Jan. 4, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jackson. The Rev. Paul Mittermaier officiated.

Memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 457 in Mequon or the Ozaukee Humane Society are suggested.

Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg, handled the arrangements.
