Mary Adams

Mary (nee Windis) Adams of Allenton passed during the early evening of Jan. 15, 2021, at 60 years of age. She passed after a two-year battle with cancer while at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis.
Mary was born on the 11th of November 1960 in Port Washington, Wis., to the late John and Mary (nee Thelen) Windis. She was raised in Port Washington alongside nine sisters and two brothers.
Mary became a schoolteacher and taught math for 33 years.
On the 20th of August 1988 she married Mark Adams. The two moved to Canistota, S.D., and raised three children: Gerald, Timothy and Mandre. In 2018, Mary and Mark moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to family.
Mary had a passion for the outdoors. Throughout her life she took great pleasure in traveling to countless state and national parks. She loved few things more than hiking and taking in the beauty of nature.
While in Canistota, she took part in and worked with the Jaycees, Lions Club, Canistota Sports Days, foster care, religious education and community outreach.
She was a woman of strong will and perseverance. Never was there a challenge or situation she backed down from, leading her to embrace adventure and hard work.
She is survived by her husband Mark Adams; sons Gerald, Tim (Madalyn) and Mandre; her brother John (Mary) Windis; and sisters Kathy Windis, Judy (Loyd) Windis, Carol (Tom) Schneider, Jenny (Bob) Heth, Debbie McNaughton, Joan (Joe) Windis, Patty (Ron) Neu and Bobby (Max) Bailey.
Mary was preceded in death by her brother Daniel Windis, sister Jean Windis, grandson Arthur Adams and parents John and Mary (Thelen) Windis.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 315 Main St., Kewaskum, WI, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021. Afterwards, a reception will be held.
