A black Ford truck crashed into an apartment building near the Saukville Fire Department June 4, damaging the building to the point where its structural integrity was questioned.

The fire department was dispatched to the scene at 4:26 p.m.

Upon arrival, first responders found that the truck had collided with the front porch and facade of apartments located on the corner of Highway 33 and South Hillcrest Court.

The truck, which landed on the front porch of the building, had damage to its front right bumper and front left tire.

Saukville Police Chief Rob Meyer said the driver was arrested and charged with his third operating while intoxicated offense and issued a citation for failure to control his vehicle.

The driver was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries for medical evaluation.

A portion of the building’s wall had been caved in, exposing insulation and cracked wood framing. Front doors to the units had also been damaged by the crash.

Meyer said one of the apartment building s that had been damaged was occupied at the time of the crash and that it was fortunate no one was seriously injured.

Out of precaution for the building’s stability following the accident, the apartments were evacuated and a building inspector was called to asses the damage.

The Grafton Fire Department also responded.
