Library sets holiday hours, activities

The Niederkorn Library in Port Washington has announced December activities for adults and youths, as well as its holiday schedule.

The library will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Dec. 24 and 25, and New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

Youth activities

Storytimes will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with a different theme each week. The sessions, which are most suitable for preschoolers but open to all, also include a craft.

There will not be a storytime on Nov. 25 and 26 or Dec. 2 through 17.

The Lego Building Club will meet from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22.

Youngsters ages 5 and older may use the library’s Legos to design and build something, then put it on display. 

A STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Studio will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, for kids ages 8 to 12 who like to create art and build projects. 

All supplies are provided by the library. Youngsters are invited to create ugly sweaters for the holiday at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4.

Youth 13 and younger are asked to bring a sweater to bedazzle in crazy decorations supplied by the library. 

Teen and adult activities

A grief support group will meet from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Dec. 3 and 17. Sessions are facilitated by Compassus Hospice. 

The D&D PW Bookwyrms gaming group meets from 5 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesdays at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 420 W. Whitefish Rd. 

Players of all experience levels are welcome. 

The Friday Morning Book Talk group will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the Port Washington Senior Center.

The Novel Ideas Book Club for fiction fans will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at the library.

A short story hour will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Senior Center. 

Those attending are asked to read a new story each month and discuss their thoughts with others.
