LETTER:Politicians like Joe McCarthy use speech freedom for deceit

To Ozaukee Press:

Freedom of speech is a double edged sword. It gives us the right to tell the truth as well as the right to lie.

Back in the 1950s, Sen. Joseph McCarthy saw a communist behind every bush. Today’s White House sees someone to demean behind these same, non-existent bushes. McCarthy gained fame and power with his deceit. Finally, after JosephWelch asked him, “Have you no sense of decency, sir?” the Senate censured him and it was all over.

Like McCarthy, our current administration thrives on demeaning and blaming others. And like McCarthy, they have no decency. Hopefully, the American people will do the decent thing in November and start the transition to a more decent America once again.
