LETTER: Women have good reasons to send Tatterson to Assembly

To Ozaukee Press:

Wisconsin women voters made a big difference when they elected Janet Protasiewicz to the state Supreme Court. She is an advocate for women’s health care rights. Women outnumbered men at the ballot box. Now is the time for them to continue the momentum and do the same for Bob Tatterson in the July 18 special election for the 24th Assembly District.

Democrat Tatterson is a candidate who supports protecting women’s right to choose their health care, passing stronger gun control laws, using state funds to help Wisconsin families, adding more funding for public schools, promoting clean energy for communities and eliminating gerrymandered voting maps that restrict voters’ choices. He holds a PhD degree in engineering, is a volunteer community leader and a former volunteer firefighter. His opponent is Republican Paul Melotik, described as a small businessman. He has no new ideas other than stating he is walking in GOP footsteps controlling women’s health care, against gun control, not helping hard working families, against funding for education, not interested in clean energy and is for keeping restrictive voting maps.

Low voter turnout tends to occur for special elections. Often the election of a local candidate is decided by just a handful of votes. The winner often is the candidate who can motivate the most voters. Hopefully, women voters will be able to step up now for Bob Tatterson on July 18.
