LETTER: Voters have plenty of info to make referendum decision
To Ozaukee Press:
Regarding the Port Washington-Saukville School District referendum, our new superintendent, Michael McMahon, appears to be very engaged and proactive in the schools and community with the best interests of the taxpayers in mind.
Following the results of a districtwide public survey, the School Board elected to reduce the overall amount of borrowing to only cover the cost to replace a 70-year-old elementary school in Saukville along with other necessary capital expenditures.
I applaud Supt. McMahon and the board for their willingness to make sure the public is well informed, engaged with full transparency with listening sessions tours of facilities and questions from the public. A recent letter to the editor opposing the referendum said voters should ask for more information. I feel the opportunity to ask has been available for many weeks. I ask everyone to make sure they vote on April 1 and please vote yes for the school referendum. A strong community starts with a strong, proactive and engaged school district.
