LETTER: Vote for candidates who favor tax relief and women’s rights

To Ozaukee Press:

Anyone who thinks the loss of Social Security and Medicare could never happen should look at what happened to the 50-year right women had to reproductive choice. Ron Johnson says he wants to save these programs by making them optional.  Mandela Barnes is committed to both women’s right to choose and the programs that citizens collectively pay into to support them in their older years.

According to figures released Oct. 14, Wisconsin is currently sitting on $4.3 billion in surplus taxpayer dollars. Gov. Evers has called again for giving a 10 percent tax cut to individuals who earn less than $100,000 and families that earn less than $150,000. He’s called for restoring the homestead tax credit, property tax relief for disabled veterans, expanded child care and dependent care tax credit, and a cap on insulin costs. If this feels like help in a period of international recession, vote for Evers.

The Republican-led Legislature has not responded to the governor’s requests. They draw a salary but will not meet in session. Republican Assembly incumbents need to be replaced. For tax relief, vote for Bob Tatterson in District 24, Deb Andraca in District 23 and for Dan Larsen in District 60. To prevent further criminalization of reproductive rights, vote for  Gov. Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul
