LETTER: Unlike the former president, veterans defended democracy

To Ozaukee Press:

On Memorial Day weekend, I joined hundreds of Port Washington residents at the parade and ceremony at Veterans Park.

As a former U.S. Navy hospital corpsman, I was impressed by the event. We were celebrating the lives of thousands of Americans who gave their lives in defense of our freedoms. I felt compelled to write this letter and encourage voters to call out our former president for not ordering an end to the violence that threatened our democracy, Constitution and Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The former president watched while our nation’s Capitol was ransacked and its Constitution and Congress threatened.

His failure to act demonstrates that he cannot be trusted to defend our country, democracy and Constitution.
