LETTER: Trump would not keep faith with president’s Oath of Office

To Ozaukee Press:

With the Oath of Office, the president must swear to “faithfully execute the office of president of the United States” and “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

The Oath of Office isn’t fitting for Donald Trump. He can’t say he’s going to defend the Constitution when he is implementing Proposition 2025 on day one.

Proposition 2025, a transition plan for a new Trump administration, includes appointing hand-picked political replacements for civil service government employees as part of the right-wing policies it would impose to radically increase the power of the president.

If Trump is elected, billionaires like Elon Musk would have influence in his administration, along with convicted operatives from his previous administration like Roger Stone and Steve Bannon.

As Americans, we know who we are. We are a nation that has never had a dictatorship. We’ve never been ruled by anything other than the rule of law and our Constitution.

When Michelle Obama described the feeling of dread that comes with anything Trump, it surely resonated. Don’t let Trump dictate to us his version of America.
