LETTER: Trump’s ill-advised war with Iran has made U.S. less safe
To Ozaukee Press:
I have had disagreements with our government at times in my life, but I’ve never been ashamed until this president. I’m still proud to be an American citizen, but the bombing of Iran and the resulting war has angered me.
Trump’s posting of how our service people have taken out the Iranian leadership is shortsighted. The chance of getting regime change is less than it was before the war. It was a country whose population did not care for its government. This was after we overthrew the shah—another time we shouldn’t have stuck our nose in other countries’ affairs.
The rocket that hit Diego Garcia base means that all European capitals are within Iran’s range. We have been surprised by the Iranians’ capabilities. We were told that their plutonium enrichment was obliterated; now we find that was not true. They shot down American warplanes after Trump said they have no army, navy or air force left.
The war has made us less safe. All the while Trump keeps making statements that aren’t true. Even Fox news anchors are arguing about the war, whether it’s been won or not.
