LETTER: Trucks with obscene message have no place on city projects

A sign similar to this one appears on a city project contractor’s trucks.

To Ozaukee Press:

I don’t care on which side of the political spectrum you fall on, trucks displaying “Let’s Go Brandon” in large letters have no place in Port Washington, let alone on projects that are commissioned by the city.

“Let’s Go, Brandon” is a coded substitute for telling the president of the United States to (add colorful language here) himself.

By allowing these trucks into our city, we enable an insipid brand of insult throwing that never would have been tolerated by previous generations. Broadcasts such as these exhibit the worst in us and embody a complete breakdown in civility.

The fact that the city is allowing free ad space on our streets for this boorish vitriol is deplorable. Furthermore, the widespread acceptance of this kind of garbage represents the ongoing erosion of our national character—something we should work hand in hand and across the aisle to eradicate.
