LETTER: Tributes to volunteers and Roy Harms inspired Press readers
To Ozaukee Press:
Two top-tier tributes to Lt. Roy Harms in recent issues of Ozaukee Press touched thousands of readers, both in Ozaukee County and far beyond. I especially appreciated the wonderful letter to the editor by Janet Nevitt of San Diego, Calif., “Ozaukee tribute to Harms was ‘heartland America’ at its best.”
I totally agree with her, coming from a military family, with my dear dad a proud Army veteran of WWII, two brothers, Dan, the Marine man, and Mike, the Navy man, and three brothers-in-law who served in the U.S. Army, and finally, a grand nephew, who is a proud Navy Seals veteran.
There are so many reasons I truly enjoy reading the Ozaukee Press. The May 18 edition of the Good Living section featured the Cedar Grove crew of volunteers that delivers truckloads of donated furniture to needy people in Milwaukee. “If Jesus were here today, he would be in the truck with them” is a comment by the Rev. Brad Bradford pastor of Cedar Grove’s First Reformed Church quoted in the Press story. I totally agree with that insight. And if Jesus himself could not be there, he would happily send his foster father, St. Joseph.
Bravo to Ozaukee Press for its informative and inspiring articles.
