LETTER: Stroebel has failed his district on health and child care issues

To Ozaukee Press:

As a voter in Wisconsin’s 8th Senate District, I evaluate Duey Stroebel’s record through the lens of my profession in finance, as well as a caring citizen. Stroebel has failed us in fiscal responsibility and failed to address the needs of the people in his district.

These are some examples:

Stroebel has repeatedly opposed common-sense policies like expanding BadgerCare to provide health care to more Wisconsinites, saving billions in state tax dollars. He’s opposed critical funding for Child Care Counts, making it harder for families to find affordable childcare. This hurts Wisconsin’s workforce and small businesses. His opposition to paid family and medical leave reveals his disregard for the struggles of working parents.

Stroebel’s proposals raise the retirement age and lower pension benefits for employees in the state retirement system. His support for right to work and for repealing prevailing wage laws and project labor agreements has hindered wage growth. His support for “Right to Work” and for repealing Prevailing Wage laws and Project Labor Agreements have hindered wage growth.

I’m ready for fresh representation and Jodi Habush Sinykin’s in-touch policy proposals. I’ve spoken with her multiple times. She’s committed to improving the lives of everyday Wisconsinites. Jodi will fight for fair wages and real middle-class tax cuts, protect retirement security and ensure families can access affordable child care, health care and quality public education. Her career in environmental law and as a business owner makes her a solid advocate in Madison for our families and communities. And she was an early champion of our newest nature preserve, Clay Bluffs Cedar Gorge.
