LETTER: Riverview restaurant closing is sad despite happy memories

To Ozaukee Press:

My wife Janice and I just want to say how deeply saddened we were to read in Ozaukee Press last week about the closing of the Riverview Inn in Saukville. What a loss for the area.

Jan grew up next door. One of her first jobs, she told me, was stamping “Riverview Inn” on the carryout bags with a rubber stamp and ink pad. Later she would babysit for Lisa Burich, who would become the owner of the restaurant, and her sister Cindy.

When I moved to Saukville in 1987, one of the first things I did was walk across the road and check the place out. That was the start of a great friendship with Art, Dar and the girls. It’s also how Jan and I got together.

A lot of time was spent there, as you can tell by my waistline. We can honestly say that they had the best pizza anywhere.

Since moving away 17 years ago, we would not miss a chance to revisit when

returning to the area. It’s really sad that no one wants to work anymore.

Good luck, Lisa, whatever happens next.
