LETTER: Protasiewicz would rule fairly as state Supreme Court justice

To Ozaukee Press:

Through some very tough times in my life I have come to know silence feeds abuse. My prayer is that we all come to understand our vote is our voice for a government that strives to bring liberty and justice to all. By voting informed, you will help bring about a better life for yourself, others and Mother Earth.

We have a precious opportunity to make our voices known by voting in the Feb. 21  nonpartisan primary judicial election to choose candidates who will move on to the April 4 general election ballot for Wisconsin Supreme Court justice. My vote will be for Janet Protasiewicz. I believe she is the best qualified and will judge fairly on cases brought before her on the political gerrymandering of voting districts, whereby politicians draw their district boundaries around voters favoring their ideologies.

There are also partisan primary legislative choices on the Feb. 21 ballot for some voting districts. You must choose one party preference for your district. In my district, I chose Democratic and Jodi Habush Sinykin for my state senator.

The Democratic party gave me the Civil Rights Act, which afforded me workplace advancement and protections when I was a young, widowed, working mother. The Democratic Party wants affordable health care, cares about the natural environment, the water we drink, the air we breathe and my grandchildren’s future on a rapidly warming planet.

There are no perfect people, parties or politicians, but I believe the Democratic Party comes closest to liberty and justice for all.
