LETTER: Pity GOP leaders who have to justify party’s pathetic policies

To Ozaukee Press:

I feel sorry for those who are in positions of leadership for the Republican Party, especially for Dennis Gasper, chairman of the Sheboygan County Republican Party, whose letters to the editor are frequently published in Ozaukee Press.

It may feel good to be in this position, but along with it comes the responsibility to promote Republican policies that run the gamut from pathetic to outrageously irresponsible and are all contrary to the interests of the American people.

Imagine having to justify: tax cuts for the super wealthy and corporations; tariffs that are hurting many American businesses and costing jobs; separating parents from their children at the border; adding trillions to the national debt; the president’s denigration of women and minorities as well as his serial lying.

There are many other dubious policies  that I could add to this list, but they are in plain sight and easily seen by thoughtful Americans.

There is no way to justify any of these positions. So Republican officials like Gasper are left with spin and distortion. It’s painful to watch.
