LETTER: Pedestrian loop is better idea than sidewalks on Hales Trail
To Ozaukee Press:
So good to see positive and forward-looking suggestions for Port Washington’s Hales Trail and the Upper Lake Park area—no negativity, just fresh-looking ways to move to a solution on the sidewalk question.
Kudos to Ken Jensen and Tom Urban for their thoughtful plan. As in any discussion, there is no perfect answer that will please everyone. However, this solution will answer most queries and in addition will show improved planning for Upper Lake Park, the Hales Trail neighborhood and the city in terms of both safety and convenience.
The pedestrian lane they propose, creating a loop that includes the Ozaukee Interurban Trail and the park walkway, demonstrates effective city and park planning while preserving the attractive open look of the park approach.
Hales Trail residents (and that includes us) would be pleased that the “no sidewalks” semi-promised to them by the developer would be honored.
