LETTER: In next week’s election, vote against political intimidation

To Ozaukee Press:

A rare and low level of political violence has been present in this country for a very long time. But the recent increase in the actions of the far-right MAGA crowd who engage in intimidation and violence is troubling.

There can be no doubt that this can be traced to our past president, who made it a practice to intimidate and subtly encourage these actions against political rivals. both within and outside of the Republican party. It’s clearly a sad legacy for this country.

Add to this the danger of religious nationalism gaining power and we have the danger of losing our democracy. Would any of us really want to have religious police walking our streets, as is the case in Iran? I hope not.

It’s time to vote those who promote lies, violence and election denial out of office. We have an opportunity to do so on Nov. 8.
