LETTER: A lamb named Moose made 14-year-old owner champion

To Ozaukee Press:

I was impressed by the photos in Ozaukee Press of the 4-H members who earned Grand Champion Awards for the animals they raised during the past year and exhibited at the Ozaukee County Fair. However, one Grand Champion winner was not included. My great-granddaughter, Kaylee Gerken, 14, a member of the Jay Road 4-H Club, won the Grand Champion Award for her lamb that she named Moose. He is a crossbreed, weighing 155 pounds. Bunzel’s Meat Marketing and Catering, Milwaukee, purchased the lamb for $17 per pound in the meat animal auction at the fair.

Needless to say, I am very proud of Kaylee and of all the hard-working 4-H members who entered the competition. Hats off to all 4-H leaders who provide their time in instilling admirable qualities and skills into 4-H members.
