LETTER: Klotz has the knowledge, passion to serve on school board

To Ozaukee Press:

This spring, citizens of the Port Washington-Saukville School District will have the opportunity to elect members of the board of education.

Public education has been part of who we are as Americans since the time of the colonists, but the mission of schools has always been in flux.

This fluctuation in the purpose and practice of schools continues even today.

There is constant discussion in regards to the objective of schools, the curriculum, extra-curricular activities, transportation, the cost of public education, how to best fund public schools and even the best schedule for each school — just to name a few issues.

Members of the board of education give generously of their time and passion. It is imperative that we elect members who have both a broad knowledge of public education and a strong passion for the direction of public education.

It is for this reason that I recommend Yvonne Klotz for the at-large position on the Port Washington-Saukville Board of Education.

Yvonne has been a public school teacher for 30 years in a neighboring district.

She and her family live in Port Washington and have used the Port-Saukville public schools for the education of their children.

She is a person who can see both the needs of the school district as a whole and the individual needs of students.

Vote for Yvonne Klotz in April.
