LETTER: It’s cowardice to deny others the American free speech right
To Ozaukee Press:
Life as a progressive person in the Town of Saukville is always a bit edgy. In the Obama years, people would cut up our political yard signs. Later, they would crumble them up and throw them in the ditch. One year we had wooden signs made and people would smash the signs into pieces. I even had one sign made from a 4-by-8-foot piece of plywood with my military uniform on it, along with the medals I received while in combat. They bent the steel post and drove over the sign and left skid marks on the picture of my uniform. This year we had a Biden sign up for two days and it was stolen.
The thief was probably the type of person who showed up at last week’s Black Lives Matter rally in Port Washington with semi-automatic weapons. I wonder how many of these people ever served in the military. Less than 1% of our population has served, and that is a national statistic. It is another fact that less of the 1% were in combat.
Apparently, I did not earn the right to have a political voice that is different from others in this township. To that I say to the cowards who keep doing this to us: What the hell have you done for America?
These people are no different than the current occupant of the White House, who is also a coward. I had heel spurs and a knee operation before I went into the Army, so I will not accept that excuse from the current occupant.
I will be putting up more signs, as I have in the past, and am sure these same cowards will destroy my signs, even though I fought for freedom of speech for all.
