LETTER: How Port fire chief’s leadership solved the paramedic problem

     Not only did retiring Port Washington Fire Chief Mark Mitchell distinguish himself by being fully involved in the safety of our town, but he knows and benefited from what he accurately called “the tipping point.”

The Ozaukee Press article, in referring to the paramedic ambulance crew, correctly used what Malcolm Gladwell in his book entitled “The Tipping Point” truly meant with that term. One small, well thought out change can solve a problem.

Mark Mitchell could have waited for funding, entered into laborious talks with others and rejected a small plan for grander notions. But his humility as a leader worked. It’s often the small ideas that have the positive effects. He will be greatly missed.
