LETTER: Here’s how Port residents can register, vote early and by mail

As we approach the Nov. 5 general election, I would like to take this opportunity to share voting information with the residents of the City of Port Washington.

Starting Oct. 17, residents can register only at the city clerk’s office at City Hall, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Nov. 1 or on election day. Residents who do not have their current address on their driver’s license or ID, or have not been issued one, will need to provide other documentation from the approved list that can be found on our website at portwashingtonwi.gov or by contacting the city clerk’s office.

For registered voters, in-person early voting at City Hall is available Oct. 22-25 and Oct. 28-31 and Nov. 1. A photo ID is needed to obtain a ballot. Absentee voting by mail is available through Oct. 31 by completing an absentee ballot application on Myvote.wi.gov or by application at the city clerk’s office and also requires photo ID.

Voters using the mail option should allow enough time to receive and return the ballot. Residents may contact the city clerk’s office if they have any questions or need assistance at 262-284-5585.

Finally, I would like to thank my election inspectors and staff, who are very dedicated and committed to providing an efficient and well-run election for our city residents. Please take the opportunity when you arrive to cast your ballot to thank them for their public service.
