LETTER: He’ll do anything for a vote, like lying to hurricane victims

To Ozaukee Press:

We are now witnessing another shake of the “maganut” tree as Trump and his acolytes are flooding North Carolina, Georgia and Florida with an ocean of lies about the federal response to hurricane recovery.

Why? Well, it’s surely not expected to change the minds of any committed Democratic voters. No, it is a desperate and despicable attempt to cover the eyes and ears of any marginal supporters who may accidentally witness the good works of FEMA and other federal and state agencies pouring in to help them and their families during this terrible crisis.

What could be more cruel and heartless than urging the victims of a natural catastrophe to distrust and avoid the very people arriving to save their lives and property? How unfeeling, dangerous and insane is it to beat the drums of distrust and denial at this time of desperate need?

What Trump and Vance apparently believe is that it is in their best interest for the victims of this natural disaster to suffer and die rather than witness, or (God forbid) accept help from the Biden/Harris administration.

Fortunately, the governors and local officials of all three states are praising the federal response and have been in constant communication and coordination with the White House.

In the midst of this climate double whammy, President Biden is rallying Congress to extend federal disaster funding. As for Trump, he’s urging Republicans to freeze the money and maximize the suffering.

If there is a reason to cast a vote for Donald Trump, it completely escapes me.
