LETTER: Harris’ record casts doubt on  ‘responsible steward’ claim

To Ozaukee Press:

Dan Vogel is running for re-election as Ozaukee County Board supervisor for District 10 and for election as Grafton Town Board supervisor. He faces a challenge for his County Board seat from Mark Harris, who recently moved back to Ozaukee County.

Mark’s campaign flyer says he is running on “being a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars,” but public court records tell a different story.

In 2023, Mark was found liable for over $16,000 in state income taxes and penalties. In 2024, he faced foreclosure on a Pewaukee home. In 2025, he was found to owe a contractor almost $2,000, which remains unsatisfied.

If Mark cannot be a “responsible steward” of his own finances, how will he do so with our county tax dollars?

Dan Vogel has served the Town of Grafton for 11 years as a plan commissioner, a member of the Ulao Creek Partnership for 12 years, and as Ozaukee County supervisor since 2024. In that time, Dan has overseen sustainable growth in the town, solved everyday problems like the hazardous railroad crossing on Highway 60, and worked to preserve the natural beauty of our community for the good of those in Grafton, Ozaukee County and beyond.

On April 7, please join me in voting to

re-elect Dan Vogel as District 10 county supervisor and elect him as Town of Grafton supervisor.

Editor’s note: According to Wisconsin CCAP (Consolidated Court Automation Program), Mark Harris paid $16,124 in taxes, interest and penalties to satisfy a judgment against him in a tax warrant case. CCAP also shows that a foreclosure case was filed against him, but was voluntarily dismissed. In a small claims case, a judgment was filed against him for $1,920. State records show it has not been paid.
