LETTER: Evers was right to act against sneaky JFC, anonymous buyer
To Ozaukee Press:
Normally, I’m a middle-of-the-road person and a proponent of pay-as-you-go amenities. If you use a national, state or county park, you should pay to use it. If the park experience is worthwhile, it’s worth your money to show your commitment to it. If no one’s using it, it is not worth the time and money put into maintaining it.
So when the Wisconsin Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee wasn’t willing to let a Knowles Nelson Stewardship Grant be used for the Cedar Gorge Clay Bluffs Nature Preserve, it didn’t bother me. But when there were some closed-door issues involving an anonymous buyer (who most likely padded someone’s pocket), then I was happy that the governor gave some Covid funds towards the preserve.
Since the Republican-led Legislature has been playing so many games and wasted over $1 million of taxpayer money on the whooped-up Gableman investigation, I think Evers was right to do something that will be appreciated by many.
Vos and most of the Assembly have been messed up for years with their games (fake electors, Fox Conn, women’s and minority rights, guns in schools), and it is time to vote for candidates who will be trustworthy and won’t be led by an ex-president who violated almost every commandment known to mankind.
Thank you, Gov. Evers, for doing the right thing.
