LETTER: Don’t let Kenosha distract us from saving AFA and SS benefits

To Ozaukee Press:
All of those who may be suckered into sending Donald Trump back to the White House because of the unrest in Kenosha need to be aware of several things.
Right now, Trump is pushing to overturn the Affordable Care Act. Despite his claims that he is protecting pre-existing coverage, if he is successful, more than 100 million people will lose health care access because
of the loss of insurance coverage.
At the same time, there is a good chance that Trump will permanently end the payroll tax, ending Social Security forever. Not only do seniors need to know that, but so do the children of seniors who might need to take in their parents.
Taking care of their parents and covering their living expenses will mean these families will be less able to save for their own retirement. Further, the economic impact of this mass loss of income would be devastating to the rest of us.
There are 72 counties in this state, and only one is in a state of unrest, which will die down in about a week. The changes Trump wants to make, however, will severely affect our lives for much longer.
