LETTER: Data center and towers likely to destroy much of the town
To Ozaukee Press:
I read in a recent issue of Ozaukee Press that Port Washington Mayor Ted Neitzke is writing children’s books. He started the biggest fairy tale of all attempting to sell us on the data center in the Town of Port Washington.
He is trying to make us believe it will be beautifully landscaped with berms and trees with minimal bright lighting, all to reduce the effect on the surrounding neighborhood.
Teddy is on track to destroy one-third of the town with the data center and another one-third with steel towers that will bring high voltage lines from west of Highway KK to Lake Drive. These towers will go through farm fields, backyards and even along a driveway. Another omission Teddy kept from us.
There has been a report that the City of Port is considering TIF loans and tax breaks for a data processing company that has not been identified.
The Common Council has been instructed not to question Teddy’s plans or they could get blackballed like Ald. John Sigwart.
At the end of this fairy tale, when Teddy is no longer our mayor, taxpayers of the Town and City of Port Washington will be left to clean up unfulfilled promises. This isn’t a fairy tale—it’s a nightmare.
