LETTER: Can taxpayers afford $33.5M safety building? Of course not.

To Ozaukee Press:

     The question at hand is: Should the City of Port Washington build a $33.5-million police/fire building with its huge accompanying tax increases, as outlined in the Ozaukee Press articles and the very thoughtful editorial titled, “Port taxpayers: Can you afford a $33.5M public safety building?”

Emphatically, no, of course not. We simply can’t afford it. The tax burden will weigh too heavily on the people who live here and those who will come to our city.
