LETTER: Cain gave teens a memorable introduction to justice system

To Ozaukee Press:

Steve Cain is an impressive member of our community. He is very much a gentleman and, more to the point, is extremely fair-minded. We think he’d be a fine addition to the Ozaukee County Circuit Court.

We’ve known Steve Cain for more than 10 years, initially through Rotary and Scouts, but also through his advice to the Cedarburg Art Museum in the years when we were getting it off the ground. Without Steve’s quiet counsel, the popular beer garden at the museum would not have been possible.

But there’s one overriding reason we support this man. Three years ago, we happened to be in the back of Steve’s municipal courtroom when a group of 25 youngsters were before the bench; there’d been alcohol at a party. Steve handled his other cases first, then called the students up to the front of the room, sat on the corner of his desk with sleeves rolled up and talked gently with them about the dangers of alcohol consumption. It was a beautiful, almost fatherly, lecture and a wonderful introduction to our criminal justice system for those kids.

This wise, experienced man loves his community and loves Ozaukee County. We hope you will join us in voting to promote Steve Cain to the Ozaukee County Circuit Court.
