LETTER: As a ‘DEI hire,’ a Black-Asian female seems to scare GOP

To Ozaukee Press:

The GOP’s false attacks on Vice President Harris as being a “DEI hire” strongly imply that they view this as a negative.

It is no secret that for years white men were very often hired ahead of more qualified minorities and women. That practice included professional sports. Just ask the members of the Negro League.

Vince Lombardi had a philosophy when it came to filling out the roster for the Green Bay Packers: “If you’re black or white, you’re a part of the family. We make no issue over a man’s color.”

He wouldn’t know what being a “DEI hire” meant and you get the feeling that he would not care. But there was one thing he did know—how to win.

This country wins when it puts all of its great players into the lineup.
