Legion helps VA’s suicide prevention initiative

The Melvin Wester American Legion Post 412 recently heard a presentation from Community Engagement and Partnership Coordinator Dona Drew of the Zablocki VA Medical Center’s Suicide Prevention Team. Drew is sharing information on how organizations can reduce the number of suicides among veterans and as a whole. For more information, contact Drew at dona.drew@va.gov. The post contributed $1,500 toward the effort. Drew (above) accepted the check from Post Commander Al Poull (left) and incoming commander Thomas Trinh. The money came from the Legion’s annual Green Bay Packers tailgate party and donations at the Memorial Day ceremony, during which VA Lead Suicide Prevention Coordinator Graham Knowlton was the keynote speaker.
