To Ozaukee Press:
My wife and I have lived in Port Washington for the past five and a half years. Since moving to town, we’ve had two sons, who are now the ages of 5 and 3. We love the proximity to the lake, the numerous parks close to home, and the walkable downtown.
Last week, our 5-year-old participated in two programs that promote safety, and we want to express our gratitude.
First, he attended Safety Town at Dunwiddie Elementary School, hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department. This program not only reinforced some of our family safety expectations, but also taught new safety ideas as well.
Thank you to the parks and recreation staff, police officer Bergin, lead teacher Alyssa, the youth volunteer leaders, the fire department and all of the other volunteers who helped with the program throughout the week.
Another set of thanks goes out to the police department and other volunteers for hosting the Bike Rodeo at Lincoln Elementary School this past Thursday. Our boys are starting to become a little more independent on their bikes, so the timing was right to learn about bike safety in a fun and interactive way.
These programs are a great example of how so many people in town assist with educating our children. Thank you to all who helped at each event.
