Knights, bishops and now Rockets

Cedar Grove-Belgium High School students will have a new opportunity to think hard outside of school in the second semester.

The School Board on Jan. 13 approved the formation of a chess club.

High School Principal Josh Ketterhagen said student Logan Depies was the driving force behind starting the club.

“If you like to play chess and you want to get beat quickly, play Logan Depies,” Ketterhagen said.

“It’s exciting. Another goal of high school is to add as many activities that we can to get students involved,” Ketterhagen said.

“If you can get kids involved in two more things beside school, their chances of graduating goes through the roof.”

Technology education teacher Elliott Friedel will be the club’s advisor.
