Kenneth Schmitz

Kenneth T. Schmitz, 70, of Port Washington, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Columbia St. Mary’s Ozaukee Hospital in Mequon.
Mr. Schmitz was born in Duluth, Minn., on May 19, 1948, to Howard and Bernice McGauley Schmitz.
On May 22, 1971, he married Janice Leone in Duluth.
Mr. Schmitz earned his master’s degree in public administration and taught economics at Middle Tennessee State University until his retirement in 2011.
He and his wife moved to Port Washington during his retirement to be closer to his family.
Mr. Schmitz is survived by his wife Janice of Port Washington and brothers Larry (Rosemary) of Wausau, Michael (Pat) of Oconomowoc, Howie (Jan) of Esko, Minn., Chuck (Mona Yesberger) of Apple Valley, Minn., and Carlos (Mary Jo) of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Peter and Bill.
A gathering of remembrance will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Port Exploreum in Port Washington.
Memorials to the Port Washington Food Pantry or a charity of the donor’s choice are suggested.
