Impact of suicide to be discussed June 12

The third of a three-part series on suicide will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church in Port Washington.  

Tricia Monroe, a postvention program manager of suicide at the Medical College of Wisconsin, will talk about the impact of suicide loss, highlighting the risk factors  and mental health challenges associated with suicide bereavement.   

She will also address misconceptions about suicide loss and provide ways to compassionately support individuals in a nonjudgmental way.   

This program is for those who have lost someone and for those who want to help others heal.

The goal of the series is to reduce the stigma surrounding suicide and lessening the shame, blame and guilt of suicide loss.
