Griffin House concert to be held in Mequon May 3
Griffin House will perform a Wisconsin Singer/Songwriter Series concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Unitarian Church North in Mequon.
House received early critical acclaim on “CBS Sunday Morning” and his songs have been featured in countless films and television shows, including “One Tree Hill,” “Army Wives” and “Brothers and Sisters.”
House has released 10 albums and continues to headline national tours.
House was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio. In high school, he landed a role in a musical and was surprised to learn that he had a natural talent for singing. House bought his first guitar for $100 from a friend, turned down a golf scholarship to Ohio University, went to Miami University in Ohio and taught himself to play the guitar and write songs.
He issued his first independent release, “Upland,” in 2003 and issued “Lost & Found” in 2004.
Several self-released albums followed, and in 2008 House released “Flying Upside Down.”
He has toured extensively, opening for artists such as Ron Sexsmith, Patti Scialfa, Josh Ritter, John Mellencamp, Mat Kearney and The Cranberries. Since 2007, House has been a national headliner.
Tickets are $20 in advance or $24 at the door and $10 for students. A $1 discount per food item donated to a maximum $4 will be given at the door.
Advance tickets may be purchased at Grapes & Tastes and the Stagecoach Inn, both in Cedarburg, Vines to Cellar in Port Washington and North Shore Bank branches in Grafton and Mequon.
Doors to the church, 13800 North Port Washington Rd., open at 7 p.m.
