Voting absentee

With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, many voters are looking for ways to cast their ballots while not heading to the polls on Tuesday, April 7.

Voters may request municipalities send them an absentee ballot through 5 p.m. Friday, April 2, by visiting their local municipal office.  

They may also electronically request absentee ballots and register to vote on the state’s myvote.wi.gov website. 

Proof of identification is required to obtain an absentee ballot and to register.

These ballots must be received by municipal clerks by 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, in order to be counted in the election. 

Early voting and in-person registration for the spring election may be done at municipal offices from Monday, March 23, to Friday, April 3.

Municipal clerks warn that lines may be long at their offices.

“Pack your patience,” Port Washington City Clerk Susan Westerbeke said.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 7.

City of Port Washington

Limited in-person services to absentee voting and voter registration.(Please call 262-284-5585 for more information)  Early in-person voting by absentee ballot and voter registration March 23 to April 3 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring your own black or blue pen (no sharpies).

Port Washington Parks & Recreation programs and facilities are closed, including Possibility Playground.

W.J. Niederkorn Library Is closed to the public. Offering a window service for materials in the building. The staff is working limited hours to answer questions. Call 262-284-5031 or email infowjnlib@gmail.com.

Port Washington Marina off closed to traffic. Staff will be in the office Monday through Friday to handle Season Launch Pass and slip rental request via phone and email. Passes and keys will be sent via mail. Call 262-284-6606 or email pwmarina@cpwwi.org.

Saukville

Saukville Village Hall is closed to the public except for Absentee Voting and Voter Registration.

Water bills and other envelopes can be placed in the Utility Drop Box to the right of the front door. The box will be checked daily.

Building Inspection Department will limit inspections to only new 1 and 2 family new construction, commercial, industrial, and life safety inspections until further notice.   Building Permit Applications are available on the Village’s website or available in the vestibule at the Village of Grafton. Oscar Grady Public Library is closed. Library will do our best to be available by phone, (262) 284-6022 ext. 0, and via Facebook Chat through the Library’s Facebook page during the hours of 10 am until 2 pm for questions or technological support. Village of Grafton

Village Hall is closed to the public.

Absentee ballot applications are available in the entryway vestibule. 8:00-4:30 Monday through Friday. Please complete them and mail back at your convenience. For questions about voting absentee please contact the Clerks office at 262-375-5300.

In-person absentee voting is scheduled to begin next week and the Village will administer voting activities in accord with the Wisconsin Election Commission guidelines. Please stay tuned for updates on this subject.

Building permit applications are also available in the entryway vestibule. Only new construction and life safety inspections will be scheduled. Please contact our Community Development Dept. at 262-375-5305 with questions.

The Food Pantry is open, but the Family Sharing store is closed until and is not accepting donations. 

Newburg

The Village of Newburg Emergency Management Committee will meet at 9am on Saturday, March 21st, 2020 at Village Hall in Newburg.  To complying with state directives to limit the size of public groups, and to help society reduce the spread of COVID-19, the number of persons in physical attendance of this meeting will be limited to 10, which is mostly comprised of the committee membership or staff.  In order to provide access to the public, the village will offer the option of attendance or observation through video/audio meeting coordination software called Zoom.  Members of the public should be able to access this free service from their computer or smartphone.  Please use the following information to participate: Join Zoom Meeting

Village of Belgium

The Village of Belgium Hall is closed to all counter service except in-house Absentee Voting.  Village staff will be available to assist residents over the phone during normal business hours.  Forms can be downloaded from the website, emailed to you, or mailed to your home.  Completed forms can be returned by mail, left in the drop box located by the front doors of Village Hall, or emailed to villagehall@village.belgium.wi.us.  Payments can be made by mail, left in the drop box, or made online.
