Gallery 224 exhibit to feature work of ArtServancy artists

Gallery 224 in downtown Port Washington will feature the works of three ArtServancy artists in an exhibition that will run from Jan. 8 to March 2.

They are Haley Krob, Meghan Burke McGrath and Brian Hibbard, all of whom spent a year working at the Milwaukee River Greenway in Milwaukee.

Krob is a mixed media artist based in Milwaukee who earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2022.

Krob has worked on the Riverwest mural project, shown work in Between Two Galleries and Aquae Nguvu Gallery and Studio, both in Milwaukee, and was selected for the North American Hand Papermaker’s eighth collegiate triennial exhibition.

McGrath is best known for her large scale, colorful paintings on paper that express the search for memory.

  The paintings take on a woodblock, print-like appearance with two inch white borders and layered images.  Portraits and  architectural imagery are juxtaposed to capture the complexity of memory.

Hibbard specializes in large scale murals, live paintings, wood sculpture, collage and design. His focus is to create work that starts a conversation, and he believes art should be fun, playful and experimental.

An artist reception will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27.

Drinks and light refreshments will be served.

Several other activities have been scheduled at Gallery 224.

A paint and sip night will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15.

Gallery 224 Executive Director Rodrigo Santamaria will lead the event.

The $40 fee includes all materials and drinks.

A workshop on mokulito, or wood litography, will be held by Berel Lutsky on March 16 and 17, and a class on pinhole  photography led by Hal Rammel will be held on April 28, which is pinhole photography international day, and April 29.

The gallery is also seeking volunteers to work shifts of either five or 2.5 hours on Saturdays and Sundays. Email arts@gallery224.org for more information.
