First Friday, Swing Time events set at cultural center

The Cedarburg Cultural Center will host its First Friday event for families on Friday, Nov. 2, and its Swing Time at the Lounge for adults on Saturday, Nov. 17.

The UnXpected will be the featured band for the First Friday event, with Bernoulli Effect set to open the show at 6 p.m.

A kid’s craft area will be set up from 6 to 7 p.m., when the UnXpected takes the stage.

A local handmade art show and monthly art exhibit will be part of the event, and food trucks and pop-up diners will provide dinner options.

The remaining 2018-2019 First Fridays line-up includes Tangled Lines on Dec. 7, Leroy Airmaster and Little Maddie on Jan. 4, Hot & Dirty Brass Band on Feb. 1, Comfort Shag on March 1, Piano Brew on April 5 and Mic Over Matter on May 3.

Swing Time at the Lounge will open with cocktails and music by Lisa Edgar and Razzmatazz from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The group performs music from the Gay Nineties to the Roaring Twenties, blending Dixieland jazz, ragtime and old-time vaudeville honky-tonk tunes.

At 7:30 p.m., Amanda and Myles Hayes  will perform. She fronts the swing and jump blues band The Flat Cats and is lead female vocalist for The Swing Shift Orchestra, while he croons at venues throughout Chicago and sings the national anthem for The Chicago White Sox.

The evening includes a cash bar, dessert bar and raffles.

Those attending are encouraged to wear costumes or cocktail attire.

Tickets are $35 per person or $250 for a VIP table for four, which includes a bottle of champagne.

Table reservations are required by Friday, Nov. 9.
