February activities at Port library announced

February activities for adults at the Niederkorn Library in Port Washington have been announced.

Cold weather craft kits will be available beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2.

Each kit includes an instruction sheet as well as all the supplies needed for the craft.

There is a limit of one kit per person.

A career planning workshop will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Emily Smith, a human resources consultant with Ansay & Associates, will provide one-on-one assistance with career planning, including resume reviews, interview preparation, job searches and applications.

A D&D group will meet from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays for D&D and RPG players of all experience levels.

A grief support group will meet from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 7 and 21, in the community room.

The group is facilitated by Colson Leach, bereavement coordinator with Compassus Hospice.

The Lighthouse Lit[erature] Writing Group will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays.

The group provides a space to quietly work on writing of all types, including fiction, nonfiction, family histories, academic papers, comics or journaling, to network with other writers and learn about publishing.

The Friday Morning Book Talk group sponsored by the Port senior center will meet in the quiet room at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9.

Copies of each month’s title are available for check out at the front desk.

The Novel Ideas Book Club for fiction fanatics will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, in the quiet room.

The BYOBook Club will meet at Inventors Brewpub at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22.

Those attending may share the book they are currently reading or just finished, no matter the genre.

A program on the FBI’s active shooter training will be held in the community room at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5.

The FBI’s Milwaukee active shooter response coordinator will provide information on what to do in an active shooter situation and how the FBI trains to prevent these situations.

The new release of “The Color Purple” will be shown at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, as part of the library’s Black History Month celebration.

The film is rated PG-13, and a short discussion will be held after the movie.

Popcorn and refreshments will be provided, and patrons may bring in food and beverages.

A Versiti blood drive will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26.
