Family winter hike is planned at Waubedonia

    The Riveredge Nature Center’s Community Rivers Program will sponsor a “Winter Senses Family Hike” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Waubedonia Park in Fredonia.
    Participants are asked to gather at the park’s  west entrance to join a Riveredge educator on an afternoon hike through the park.
    The family friendly hike will include looking for patterns in the snow, listening to the winter “creak sounds,” searching for animal tracks and practicing nature identification skills, as well as playing games.
    Depending on the weather and snow cover, the hike may include trying on snowshoes.
    Children must be accompanied by an adult and pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 15 participants. Masks are encouraged to be worn.

    The Community Rivers Program works to improve water health and quality within the upper Milwaukee River watershed by working with local residents, elected municipal officials and stakeholder groups.
