Family to Family class to start in September

A free Family to Family class for people whose loved ones are suffering from mental illness will be offered in September.

The class, offered by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on nine Tuesdays beginning  Sept. 10.

The class, which will be held in Grafton, is designed for adult family members, friends, and significant others of persons living with mental illness.

The course includes information on illnesses such as major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other mental health disorders as well as strategies for communicating with a loved one, maintenance of the supporter’s health and minimizing life disruption.

The program is taught by trained volunteers who have experienced supporting loved ones with mental health disorders.
