Election had low turnout

Since the state superintendent of public instruction was the only thing on the ballot for the village and town of Belgium in Tuesday’s primary election, turnout was low.

In the village, 94 of 1,606 voters cast ballots, about one third via absentee. The town had 55 of 1,095 people vote, 17 of whom did so via absentee ballot.
